The administration called it a 100-Day Victory Lap, which confused many, since victory is traditionally preceded by winning something. I. The Calm Before Monday arrived with the false confidence of a man about to attempt surgery after watching three videos. At the White Fortress, fifty golf carts sat in formation, their electric motors humming with what the organizers called patriotic anticipation.
