Rich Today, Poor Tomorrow — or Vice Versa?

Ever wonder if your money is safer in a mattress than in a bank?

In Ithaca, New York, one lawyer has been swamped with two types of clients: those rushing to sell property and hold cash, and those desperate to buy property before their dollar loses even more value.

It’s not paranoia. It’s the economy.

Let’s break it down:

  • Inflation is fueled by governments printing money they don’t have to appear generous at election time.
  • Global economic swings are predictable—until they’re not. COVID-19 wasn’t in the textbooks.
  • Tax policy and currency manipulation have become tools of control, not justice.

Take Kuwait. Their dinar is considered the most stable currency in the world. Why? No taxes. An oil-rich export economy. But when oil prices fall, even that “stability” crumbles.

Now let’s bring it home.

You might inherit money, win a lawsuit, or cash in a pension. But how do you make sure today’s dollar doesn’t become tomorrow’s quarter?

Gold jumped from $2,160 an ounce in 2024 to $2,978 in 2025. Silver rose from $22.66 to $32.15. But gold dropped to $274 in 2000. Silver hit $11.17 in 2020.

Stuffing bills under your mattress? You’re losing 3-4% to inflation each year in “stable” countries like Canada or the U.S.

Bank savings accounts? 1-2.5% interest at best.

So what do most people do? Gamble on the legalized casino known as the stock market. It might grow your money. Or shrink it. But it sure makes someone else rich either way.

And here’s the kicker: The stock market props up big corporations. Small businesses? They don’t have stockholders. They have grit, community, and thin margins.

Without small businesses, big corporations run wild. No competition. No accountability.

So what do we do?

We stop waiting. We stop pretending the system is fair. We stop watching our future evaporate.

We support and invest in small businesses. We build resilient communities. We demand economic systems that work for us—not just the ultra-wealthy.
